We specialise in Cyprus stamps, first day covers & postal history items.

On this site you can buy Cyprus stamps online in sets, singles & first day covers (FDC's) , Booklets, Full Sheets, Souvenir / Mini-Sheets, Year Packs, Cyprus Postal History and sometimes Maxim Cards, in Mint and Used condition.

We are the only dedicated and constantly updated website for North Cyprus stamps and the Republic of Cyprus stamps & first day covers. Our overall aim is to provide a website and service for all your Cyprus stamp needs.

We do however, also list small collections of stamps from other countries from time to time and you will find these in our eBay Auction listings - just follow the link at the left side of the page to see all our latest listings, including some Cyprus stamps and Turkish Cypriot stamps (North Cyprus). As these are not all in our speciality you may be lucky and find the odd rare stamp or hidden gem!

The last Republic of Cyprus stamps issue was on Wednesday 27th January 2010 and celebrated the
50th Anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus.

Most recent 2009 issues were on 12th November 2009 - Cyprus 2009 Christmas and 50th Anniversary of the European Court of Human Rights. Available in our online shop. Please type: 2009 in the Product Search box from any page in our website.

We use Stanley Gibbons reference numbers throughout all our listings. Please use the Search Box facility located at the top right of each page. Request your FREE complete list of Cyprus stamps and First Day Cover issues since 1960 onwards. We have compiled a full list of Cyprus stamp issues and current price values (catalogue prices - not ours) in excel format, which will be sent to you free of charge by email attachment. Search by using the SG number if you know it, or with general words such as: Europa, Christmas, personalities, astronomy, planets, cats, animals, bird, flower etc.

Our Shop categories are separated by Decade ( Pre 1960's , 1960's , 1970's etc) and then by type - FDC's, Sheets - mint & used, Stamps - Mint, Stamps - Used and Year Packs.

Postal History - all years for Republic & North Cyprus. (Includes stamp issue leaflets, advertising booklets, Cyprus post office items & pre-paid postal stationery).
Odds & Ends category includes - incomplete sets, clearance items, Maxim Cards and other Cyprus stamp items not generally covered by our other categories.

Collectables - this category contains Non-Stamp related collectable items, such as Coca Cola cans & memorabilia, postcards, prints etc.
Other Things - old fridges, wrecked cars and next doors' llama! If it doesn't fit in any of the above categories, this is where you will find it when available. Sorry, but this category does not always have items visible so remember to visit often in case we updated the website.

"Mint" = Unused, never hinged.

"Used" = Postally cancelled.

"MLH" = Mint Lightly Hinged.

"CTO" = Cancelled to Order.

"FDI" = First Day of Issue.

History of Cyprus Stamps

Stamps in Cyprus are issued by the postal services department .

The postal history of Cyprus is very closely related to the island's political past. Postal services existed during the Venetian and Ottoman periods of occupation and the first printed postage stamps appeared after the start of the British occupation in 1878. It's said that Cyprus' postal history is probably the most interesting of all Commonwealth countries!

The first postage stamps issued were identical to stamps issued in Britain - but overprinted with CYPRUS. Later issues included local themes, with the current reigning British monarch depicted in the upper corners.

The postal services department have issued stamps in several series per year since 1960. The illegally occupied areas in the North of Cyprus issue their own stamps and are separate to the Republic of Cyprus (South Cyprus). More recently the total stamps produced per issue range between 50,000 - 80,000 for each stamp.

All mail dispatched out of Cyprus must carry the Refugee Fund stamp (current value €0,02cents) in order to be posted officially. The very first Refugee Fund stamp was issued in October 1974 (originally a 1971 commemorative issue overprinted 5m to 10m Refugee Fund). New issues have been released on a fairly regular basis and since 10th January 1977 all have been of the same design depicting a person squatting in front of a stretch of coiled barbed wire. Only the colour has changed in all this time, most recently to a greyish purple colour.

Please look out for our own unofficial or private first day covers - they are very unique and collectable. Since the postal services started to produce official covers, the private covers are very quickly becoming a thing of the past.
