My wife ordered me some items on Wednesday evening and they were delivered in the UK before 9 am on Saturday. All the way from Cyprus! Now that's what I call excellent service.

-------------------------------
Hi Mike,
That truly was an exceptional service! Your package would have been dispatched to our local post office in Polemedia village on Thursday morning, collected at midday to be sent to Larnaca airport and hopefully, on it's way either late on Thursday or Friday morning. So getting it by 9am on Saturday was a real achievement.
It's not unknown for orders to reach our Cyprus stamp collectors inside 3 days but it's always good to get that kind of feedback when it happens!
Thank you for taking the time to seek out my website and provide your feedback. I hope we will see you again soon...
Kind regards,
Michele (Cyprus Stamps)

Another first class service from you all at Cyprus Stamps. - order #614105 arrived today safe and sound in only 5 days. Thank you for your efforts and all good wishes for 2012.

---------------------------------
Hi George
Thanks for your update. It's good to hear the mail is getting out of Cyprus quickly.
A shame we cannot say the same for mail arriving into Cyprus at the moment. There's been a massive backlog it seems for incoming mail and many people did not receive cards or presents in time for Christmas.
The Cyprus-Mail has been reporting on it this last few days, then miraculously the next day a thousand mail bags appeared out of nowhere!
But, that's life as we know it in Cyprus!
All the best for 2012 to you and Maureen.
Regards, Michele

Hello George

It's always good to hear the postal service from Cyprus is living up to its' great reputation. We do find mail gets to UK from Cyprus very quickly and often inside 3 days, which is quite amazing! Registered takes a little longer though...
I'm pleased to hear you are happy with our service. I would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to revisit my website and put down your thoughts on paper so to speak.

Dear Michele Yes! Bingo! Order #567129 duly arrived this morning for which I thank you. Very nice too dear lady. I really don't have a lot of faith in the postal systems anyway. I recently sent a package of GB FDC's to my exchange partner in Athens and as far as I am concerned, it was stolen!!!! Probably my fault really because I sent the package via ordinary post rather than registered, stupid of me I know.It won't happen again!

Good morning Michele. Is there any further news on the expected new definitives of the Republic?
Kind REgards, John

-----------------------------
Hi John,
Yeah, well - good old Cyprus postal services have done it again....
Although the definitives were due to be released by the end of the year, we were informed recently that this may not now happen until next year.

See the last entry (number 7) on here: http://www.cyprusstamps.co.uk/2011cyprusstampissues.html

They keep changing the emission programme. Very frustrating for all who sail in her :-)

Hello Michele. Very many thanks indeed for order No. #564708 that arrived this morning, very nice too I might add. Royal Mail were on form with their usual brand of vandalism. They stuck a "Signature Required" that managed to straddle two of the stamps on the envelope. Don't you just love them?
Kind Regards,
John

------------------------------
Hi John
Thanks for the update. That was a bit of a bummer! I think they should get a serious talking to. Talk about how to stop the art of stamp collecting in one easy lesson :-(
Maybe we should look at bringing back carrier pigeons for deliveries of Cyprus stamps? Your orders may take a little longer than usual though...

Hiya John
I'm pleased you received your orders and again, very quick to UK. Always good to know.
I've just passed on your regards to my "Dispatcher" and he's happy you liked the cancellations. Our postmaster lets him cancel his own envelopes on the first day of issue so he always takes great care with them.
It's always nice to hear you're happy with our service, we always aim to please. Our stamp collectors aren't just "collectors" to us - they are our friends too!

Hello Graham

Many thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to let me know you received your order.

We've noticed that orders do seem to reach the UK very quickly and often get comments that our items can often be received faster than packages sent from inside the UK, which is quite amazing!

My husband sorts all the stamps into the small envelopes for dispatch as we do find it's helpful to our collectors. I'm pleased you found it useful too.
A lot less work at your end!

Do I log onto my works laptop or wait till later to check my hundreds of emails I've received since I left the office on Friday or shall I go and have a read in the sun whilst it's still out?

Hi John,
Good to hear from you! We are both well and hope you are too?

The new issues are on the site and available now for pre-orders. Orders need to be made and paid for on or before Monday 6 June to ensure dispatch on the official release date of Wednesday 8 June 2011. This link will take you to the page: http://www.cyprusstamps.co.uk/shoponline/cat_324776--0006-Latest-Stamp-Issue.html

The category should display on Latest Stamp Issue (NEW 8 June 2011 Stamp Issues). If you still see it as 4 May 2011 then your browser is showing a "cached" page. Press the CTRL and F5 keys to perform a hard refresh to bring up the published page.

The images we have displayed just now on each individual listing are taken from the post office leaflets.

Hi John,

It's wonderful to know our packages can reach our collectors so quickly and yet we can send envelopes to Paphos (less than 70km away) which can take a week to reach their destination...

Very weird!

Glad you liked the new issues. Did you spot the new Refugee Fund Stamp on your envelope? That was issued on the same day but we had no advance images so had no idea what colour it was going to be.

Hi Glynne
First of all, thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

That is an amazingly quick delivery!

The first day of issues were posted on Wednesday from Cyprus in the late morning after collecting our pre-orders from the post office - and here we have a receipt in the UK on Friday afternoon!!!!!

Where appropriate, we do always try to put at least one of the new issues on the order package. We know that stamp collectors don't always collect used stamps be we feel it's a nice touch if we can do it.

I hope you will visit us again in the future at Cyprus Stamps website.

Hello John
Thank you for the update on receiving the latest 23 March issues. We're glad you like them. The aromatic Roses stamps are the first in a series of "smelly" stamps so that will be one to watch for the future.

Did you see there is a surprise new issue added for June 2008? Our Cyprus Nobel Peace Prize winner is being honoured with a new stamp!

Thank you for your kind comments too. It is always good to receive feedback on our website and our service.

Wishing you good health.

Hello Michele. Wow! Another lightning delivery of new issues from Aphrodite's Island! Incredible mail service, thank you. Posted from Cyprus on 28.1.2011, arrived UK 31.1.2011!!! Just as good as it can get I would suggest. Here is an example of worldwide postal inneficiency. I am still awaiting delivery of stamps from Guatemala that was despatched on 30.12.10 by registered post!!!!!!! Where is Guatemala, central America or the dark side of the moon!! No wonder I am getting so cynical in my twilight years.

---------------------------------------

John,
You should know by now that all our mail sent to you is very "special" but as for being cynical I'm inclined to agree with you - it's something you seem to get with age!

A bit like suddenly waking up one morning to find you have developed something called "patience". A little bit of it reached my direction after I hit the age of 30 - but, not a lot!

Sadly, we cannot do anything to resolve your postal service problem from Guatemala :-(

Till the next time...

Dear Michele,

I am delighted with the stamps I have purchased from you. The first order arrived in three days, I could not believe the speed of this delivery.

The second order took eight days to arrive this was sent air mail.

My husband and I have been visiting Cyprus for the past 12 years and enjoy our holidays very much. During the last four years I have been collecting mint stamps each time we visit. I particulaly enjoy the mosaic stamps, the latest set Roman mosaics from Paphos are my favourite (1989 756 - 770).

Although I was only going to collect Cyprus Stamps for the past 20 years - your web site is so easy to use it has given me the opportunity of collecting many more Cyprus stamps than I ever expected to find. I have also learnt the difference in your stamp quality as we call our stamps "mint mounted" whilst you call them MLH "Mint lightly hinged". It is great to understand the different terminology.

It is difficult to see stamps when they are listed in groups but to be able to click on to the stamps and see an enlargement before ordering is fantastic. I also appreciate seeing the stamps as this enables me to ensure that I am ordering the correct stamps rather than just ordering using the Stanley Gibbons numbers.

Many thanks for your e-mail. I am sure I will spend many happy hours searching for additional stamps and also your prices are very reasonable.

Sincerely
Gloria

Reply from Cyprus Stamps

Hello Gloria

Many thanks for your detailed reply and I've very pleased to hear you are happy with the site and it seems we've now given your "collecting bug" a bump!

To your question regarding the stamps you are seeking, I do only have them in MLH condition. I have sent the links which will take you directly to the items.

As a Tip: you can search much more easily by simply entering the year (ie 1953) into the Product Search field.

To be honest, the Search option is a bit of a bug bear for me as it does not perform adequately but is currently being looked into for future upgrading by the Techie guys! One can only live in hope....

We have now been living in Cyprus for a little over 6 and a half years and like you, we were visiting for many years before we made the move permanent.

Thanks again for your open opinion.

Best regards
Michele

Thank you Roger

I'm very pleased that you are happy with our service at Cyprus Stamps.

The Cyprus postal service does often surprise us and many collectors have indicated they can often receive packages from us much quicker than items dispatched directly from their own country destination.

Strange - but true!

I hope we will see you again soon and in the meantime, if we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I can now make up the set of the1928 Anniversary issues ( except unfortunately the £1 value ) of m/mlh.

Good cancellation on the SG 118.

Hope to contact you again soon.

Dear Alan

Thank for your comments and your feedback.

Hello Michele. Very many thanks indeed for order received today. Posted on the 3rd Aug and received here on the 5th!! We can't even manage that here in the UK most of the time!!!!!!

Hi John
Thanks very much for that news!

It's quite amazing how the post can sometimes get to UK so quickly.

Always takes between 7 to 10 days in the opposite direction though, when you think it would be the other way around...

Very strange, but good to know it happens!

By the way, I had that cold Keo last night and thought about you :-)

A bit cooler today and we even have a small breeze. No doubt the breeze will disappear in another hour or so. LOL

Hello Alon

Thanks for the update and I'm pleased that you like them!

I really liked them too but I am a great fan of trains so I'm a bit biased ;-)

I am starting to put together a list for Thematic collectors in the right hand column on the website, so anything further with trains will end up under Transport (when I get to it).....

I hope to hear from you again in the future. Keep in touch.

Thank you Michele for order received this morning. Regarding the 2010 Moufflon vending machine labels, any idea of details? Who designed them? Does anyone else have a point of view?
Regards to you all.
John

---------------------------------------

Hi John,
Sorry for the dealy in replying to you. Not had chance to spit recently as I've been very busy at the office.

For the Moufflon vending machine labels info, I can tell you as follows:
There are 2 label designs - 1 green/yellow and the other with a pinkish/purple.

The artwork & design is by Melane Efstathiadou and Glafkos Theofylakatou.

Printer: Christos Papachristoforou, Nicosia.

Stamp size: 50x24mm

Text on the 2010 Presentation Pack is kindly provided by the Department of Forestry, Nicosia.

I will send you an example of the new 2010 Refugee Fund reprint in your next order. It fits in ever so nicely with the cachet design first day of issues my husband made prior to the issue.

He didn't know it was going to be orange as we receive no prior notification of these stamps - so that was a very pleasant surprise when we realised it!

You can see one of his examples at this link: http://www.cyprusstamps.co.uk/shoponline/prod_880669-Cyprus-Stamps-SG-2010-e1-Refugee-fund-tax-FDC-c692.html

I hope the weather is picking up in UK and am pleased to hear about your son.

Just received a copy of the 1928 £5.00 forgery, it is a cracker of a forgery and as suggested, an excellent space filler. I am very pleased with it, anyone else take advantage of this offer? It would be nice to hear other opinions on this one.

From: John W (Tue 13th Apr 2010 at 16:30)
Hello Michele. Flight tickets are being transferred to my daughter, her partner and grandchildren. Lost a small fortune on the saga, about two thirds !! It won't happen again, I learn fast! Not sure where they will be staying yet, I am hoping to send stamps along with her for your offer. Trust you are well.

Hi John

Thanks for the update and at least I suppose it's better than losing all the money, although it's no consolation :-(

It's a shame we will not get to meet you this time, but another visit perhaps should be planned for the future?

Will chat nearer the time - just drop me an email when the visit is closer but if you have any scanned images before your daughters' visit, it may give us chance to have an advance peep.

In case you're interested, we've just managed to get hold of some SG17a 1928 £5 Cyprus stamps. (Genuine reproductions, of course) - great as a space filler and have good perforations. Complete with watermark. Circa year 2000.

Will be listed very soon!

Catch up again soon.

I suppose, in the final analysis, I could have flown on my lonesome but not a lot of joy in that really. I will let you know the outcome, I do so hope that you don't get a postcard from Skeggy !!!!!

Hello Michele,
Oh dear! It happened, my son has been made redundant so now it looks as though our trip is off. We are left with four tickets, bought and paid for on Monarch Airlines and I will probably end up with a weekend at Skeggy !!! And I though that my luck was beginning to change!! Probably no chance of getting our money back from the airline. Life eh? I was so looking forward to the trip too.
Kind Regards,

----------------------------------------
Oh damn, John

We were really looking forward to finally getting to meet you too :-(

I do believe you can cancel with Monarch through your insurance. You will lose some of the costs but should manage to salvage something. The other option would be to see if they will allow a name change and allow you to resell them?

Let me know what happens.... I might be able to advertise them on some forums at this end.

Or, there may be a cloud with a silver lining and hope your son finds something else very quickly. Lets hope so...

Keep me posted. You can always send me an email directly.

Curium Beach eh? Very nice too. Did you actually go or was this a tease? Any idea what the stamp issue programme is for the remainder of the year Michele?

---------------------------------------
Hiya John

Yes, we went to the Sunshine Restaurant at the far end of Curium Beach and had souvlakia kebab and a cold Keo :-)

On the way back we could see there was a big fire somewhere on Akrotiri RAF base - lots of thick smoke was spiraling into the sky. I heard today it was the Rainbow Theatre that burned down. Investigation is underway as to how it started. It's been closed for 2yrs apparently...

Next (3rd) stamp issue is due out on 5th May - the new Europa and the reprint of the Refugee Tax Fund stamp.

I thought I sent you the list, did I not?

Hello Michele. Very many thanks indeed for new issues that arrived yesterday morning. Special postmark applied in Cyprus on 17th and arrived UK on 19th? Better than UK 1st class inland !!!!!! I was pretty fortunate though, the airmail envelope had not been sealed very well and had been left open !!!!! Great!! About time my luck changed!!
Kindest Regards
John

----------------------------------------

Hello John

Wow! Just how fast did they arrive? That's amazing! Funnily enough, I only remarked on how fast Cyprus post seems to get to UK than than the other way round earlier today...

As for the envelope, I just checked with my Dispatch "department" ;-) and it seems the airmail envelopes are self sealing and when we send from home - my dispatcher adds extra tape to make sure they are sealed securely.

However, as these were FDI's - they were packaged and dispatched directly from our usual post office, (Mixalis) who looks after us collectors very well, and so the tape was not applied this time...

I'm very sorry for this oversight John and will make sure next time, we take extra tape with us for 1st issues.

I'm glad to hear you got them safely... But, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Hey, see you in July. Not long to go now! Have just got in from sitting outside in the sun on the back veranda reading my book....

Hello Michele. I have been a little busy of late and so apologise for not thanking you earlier for your dedication of Cyprus in the 1940s. Very nice too, a bit before my time!! However I identified the aquaduct, the times I travelled up that road on my way to the SBA at Dhekelia!!!! Lovely memories came flooding back. Saturday evenings and a few beers along the seafront at Larnaca, happy days. Have a lovely Christmas and a cracking New Year. I leave my island in very good hands! Kind Regards, John

---------------------------------------
Hi John,
No problem - we are always pleased to hear from you, no matter when. We too have fond memories of the aqueduct as we spent 3 weeks in Larnaca one winter (towards the end of November 1992) and used to enjoy seeing it all lit up just before we reached the fire station when we were returning in the evenings from our frequent trips to Limassol. You see, even then - I was already planning my "escape" route to Cyprus!
I will keep an eye open for some other snippets that may keep you in touch. We also drove a few times out of Larnaca to Ayia Napa along the Dhekelia road past the refineries. Now, with the new highway and lots of building along the sea road, it's never instantly recognisable.
You too have a good Christmas and we both hope the New Year is better for you.
Looking forward to catching up with you later in 2010.
All the very best

Many thanks for your comments John. Always a pleasure to hear from you!

I must say we were a little disappointed by the plain look of the Christmas issues. Other than the glitter effect on the stars, they aren't very imaginative. My husband makes his own cachets and they are much more inventive, I have to admit.

Hi Cyprus Stamps!

Just ordered some stamps for my father-in-law and he wanted me to tell you that he was amazed by your fast delivery and excellent presentation.

He was also pleased to see the excel catalogue of Cyprus stamps dating from 1960-present and would like to request a copy.

Any ideas of how to get a list that dates from around 1880?

Many thanks and keep up the good work!

Reply from Cyprus Stamps:

Thank you for your lovely comments and for letting me use them on our Guestbook.

It's great to receive such good feedback and makes all the hardwork that goes into keeping the website stocked and updated all worthwhile.

I'm glad to hear your father-in-law was pleased with the service.

I am attaching 2 files in reply to your request for the list of Cyprus stamp issues.

We are just updating the Northern Cyprus stamps and if you would like the updated version to be sent when it is completed, please just ask.

As for the issues from 1880, we have made a start on it but, it's rather complex with too many variants and looks like it will be a long and painful progress. But, as the saying in Cyprus goes - siga, siga....

An excellent suggestion from George regarding new issues. I would suggest though that perhaps NEW ISSUES of stamps could be delivered to collectors four times a year. I say this because of the ever increasing number of issues made by most postal authorities in recent years. I currently get my new issues from a UK based dealer but would be delighted if a NEW ISSUE service could be started by Cyprus Stamps.
